Trial - Government IT

Well now I'll be posting from time to time one or another task I have there, I hope it is useful. There I added as literature because hahahaha.

The following essay is about government IT and is focused on COBIT and ITIL.

In the past, consider the role of IT in an organization as a mere support function, a function separate and distinct from the rest of the business was a common practice. Currently, most investment in infrastructure and new IT applications span business lines and functions. A critical element for success and survival of organizations is the effective management of information and related information technologies.
Government IT
the extent that organizations grow, their technology support becomes more complex, increases the amount of equipment from various sources, a variety of operating environments, many applications, this makes them better models require IT management. The Government IT is a concept which is based on the following elements: Strategic Alignment, Resource Management, Value generated, Performance, Risk Management. Having all these elements in an organization is a major challenge and most organizations focus more on business processes that have a government that meets IT with those elements already mentioned. But an organization that can meet these points will have a most significant technological contribution in the field of efficiency and effectiveness. By using a model of IT management we can ask the following questions
" There is a framework to help business leaders and technology in an effort to change the role of IT and reduce the gap between IT and the business that it must support and support? This framework should give us a reference with which we can guide and that every time the technology is helped make business processes more efficient so it is important to have a support framework to facilitate this task that can be more efficient and effective.
What are the responsibilities of leadership and management level?
should know what the responsibilities to know how to manage and whether there are tools which help us manage it.
Is this a question of government?
There may be ambiguities that's good that we get this question and not fall into matters that do not have to do with relation to IT governance.
We must also note that a growing dependence on information and systems that provide such information do we have the increasing vulnerability and many threats, one important point is the cost of current and future investments in information and information technology as the potential of technologies to dramatically change organizations and business practices, create new opportunities and reduce costs. Management requires services which have gains in quality, functionality and ease of use, and continuous improvement and a reduction in delivery times, while demanding that this be done at a lower cost. Many organizations recognize the potential benefits that technology can provide. The organizations, however, also understand and manage the risks associated with implementing new technologies.
The evaluation of business requirements, IT resources and processes are very important points for the proper functioning of a company and ensuring its survival in the market. Furthermore, organizations must meet quality requirements trust and security, both for the information, and their assets. Management should also optimize the use of its available resources, which include: personnel, facilities, technology, application systems and data. To fulfill this responsibility and to achieve its objectives, management must understand the state of their own IT systems and decide the level of security and control they should provide these systems.
The COBIT is hardly a model for audit and control management information systems and technology, aimed at all sectors of an organization, ie IT managers, users and of course, the auditors involved in the process. Provides best practices and presents activities in a manageable and logical structure. "Best practices" COBIT meets the consensus of experts who will help optimize the investment information, and provide a measuring device that will judge when the activities are on the wrong track.
The COBIT Framework provides the owner of the business processes, tools that facilitate the fulfillment of this responsibility. The Framework starts with a simple premise and practice:
order to provide the information the company needs to achieve its objectives, IT resources are managed through a set of IT processes grouped in a natural way.
The Framework consists of a set of 34 targets high-level control, one for each of the IT processes, grouped into four domains:
Planning and Organization Acquisition and Implementation, Support and Service Delivery Monitoring. This structure covers all aspects of information and technology that supports it. These objectives COBIT is designed to be the IT governance tool that helps the understanding and management of risks and benefits associated with the information and its related technologies.
As with many problems faced by organizations, questions arise strategy generates the following questions:
- What is the issue / problem? Identifying a problem is important to understand that is what we want to solve.
- What is the solution? Having a strategy for solving our problem.
- Will it work? We must consider whether the strategy we chose is the best to solve our problem.
- How do I? Hands have to carry out our plan with the different tools that offer frameworks.
Another part of the government's ITIL IT is responsible for planning, procurement, design, implementation, operation, support and improvement of IT services that are appropriate for business needs. ITIL provides a comprehensive framework consisting and coherent set of best practices in managing IT services and other related processes. ITIL also promotes a high quality approach to achieving business effectiveness and efficiency in the management of IT services, the ITIL framework describes the methods, functions, roles and processes over which organizations can develop and evaluate their own IT activities.
ITIL is based on several books and their themes are: IT Service Management, Best Practices for Service Delivery, Best Practices for Service Support, Infrastructure Management IT Management security perspective Business, Application Management, Software Asset Management, Planning implement Service Management, ITIL Implementation of small-scale.
With ITIL can have an IT governance model which helps us to improve the level of governance also helps reduce costs and improve quality of service, thereby eliminating organizational hazards to strengthen the process also helps to strengthen lines of communication as this is an important part to mention because if there is good communication will be difficult to implement this sort of thing in an organization. All this makes it possible to better integrate IT with business process and it can effectively fulfill regulations.
Conclusions
We conclude that it is important to bear in mind such and governance models that allow us to have a good guide to "best practice" in the management of governance, and that if there is no guidance can become chaotic and thus reduce the productivity of the organization, most often companies in Guatemala does not implement these models as they require to meet a lot of points and the few that you use only use one hand to complement what they already have and that not all the parties apply for the organization. As personal comet I had the opportunity to be in an organization which had not implemented any of these of these good practices and really when it becomes a difficult task, try to raise some points but still the people who make the organization tends to not casually or have to put up resistance as it leads to more procedures to which makes it a bit tedious work processes but what they fail to grasp is that ultimately this will improve and align the business processes.
